FAQ - LICENSED USERS FAQ

1. How do I install PC Guard for .NET/Win32?

Extract program archive to any directory, run setup program (Setup.exe) and follow installation instructions.


2. How do I activate my copy of PC Guard for .NET/Win32?

Use site/mid codes generated by main application to
activate your license in our activation center.


3. What is activation center?

Our online Activation center is 24/7 online at your service.

Here are some things you can do in activation center:

   - Find about our latest news and product updates

   - Track your orders and licenses

   - Activate, reactivate, remove and transfer your licenses

   - Request your unique, latest version of our products

   - Extend your technical support subscription

   - Upgrade old versions of our products

   - Purchase additional licenses and new products


4. How do I remove my license?

- Run main application
- Select 'Remove license' option from HELP menu.
- Click on 'Remove license!' button to remove license.

or

- Toggle scroll-lock key and run main application.
- Activation dialog box should pop-up.
- Select "Remove license" radio button.
- Enter your original activation code and press "Continue" button.
- Press OK to approve license removal process.
- Removal code dialog box will pop-up at this point.



5. What should I do if my computer crashes or if I format drive without removing license?

You should use license reactivation procedure to reactivate lost license on original computer.

If required, replace broken part with new one and reinstall required software including our product.

Login to activation center. Select appropriate order and click on license update button. Set new Site code and Machine ID values, check "I don't have valid removal code" (removal code field will be grayed afterwards) and click on 'Update license' button. Our activation system will be able to determine if new site and machine id codes are from original computer. In case too many hardware locking parameters are different you will be asked to contact support department.


6. Can I upgrade my copy of PC Guard for Win32?

Yes, you can review all upgrading options and upgrade your copy in activation center.

UPGRADING FROM PC GUARD FOR WIN32 V4 AND OLDER VERSIONS

PC Guard for Win32 V4 can be upgraded to
PC Guard for Win32 V5 or PC Guard for .NET V5.

PC Guard for Win32 V4 is obsolete and no longer supported product. It's also not fully compatible with Windows XP and later operating systems and is off the market for over three years.

PC Guard for .NET/Win32 V5 supports all existing Windows 32/64 bit operating systems including Windows XP SP2, Windows 2003, Windows XP 64bit, Windows Vista.

- You will be able to continue using previous version and install V5 license on another computer.

- After upgrading, you will also receive 6 months of free tech support subscription (free upgrades and free tech support).

- You can choose between upgrading to PC Guard for Win32 V5 and upgrading to PC Guard for .NET V5.

UPGRADING FROM PC GUARD FOR WIN32 V5 TO .NET VERSION

- PC Guard for Win32 V5 can be upgraded to PC Guard for .NET V5.

- You will receive your unique, latest build of PC Guard for .NET V5.

- PC Guard for .NET upgrade will retain compatibility with previous Win32 version. You will be able to use old projects for protection and activation of Win32 applications.

- Existing PC Guard for Win32 V5 tech support subscription will be transferred to upgraded .NET version.

- Previous Win32 license should be removed before installing this upgrade as .NET version contains all functionality of Win32 version with added .NET applications protection capability.


7. What is your updates policy?

If you have a valid tech support subscription you can request your unique, latest build at any time in activation center.

- The latest build is always the most stable and compatible version.

- New builds are not always 100% compatible with previous releases. This is why all changes are listed in whatsnew.txt document and can be reviewed in activation center before requesting latest build.

- We are compiling unique copy for each customer and because of this we are not keeping backup copies of builds delivered to customers.

- Only the latest build can be delivered on request. Old builds are not available for download.

- Information about new builds is sent to clients subscribed to our newsletter as soon as they are released. Each client is by default subscribed to our newsletter. You can unsubscribe at any time in our activation center.


8. Where is protection interface documentation in my full version?

Protection interface documentation can be accessed from Help menu in main application by selecting "Protection interface help" option or via Windows Start/Programs menu.

9. Can I upgrade my copy of
Activation Center (ACEN) PRECOMPILED to SOURCE CODE version?

Yes, you can upgrade from PRECOMPILED to SOURCE CODE version of ACEN in our internal activation center.
